Abstract/Summary

An archaeological desk-based assessment has been prepared for land at Home Court, Sackville Street, Thrapston, Northamptonshire (SP 99864 78663) by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS). The assessment was commissioned by Partner Construction Ltd in advance of the proposed development of the site for new housing. The proposed development site is in an area of Thrapston that has seen little archaeological work, though it is not far from the village core to the west where medieval occupation and burials has been found in the area of the former De Vere manor. The current building (Home Court) is likely to have already severely impacted on the survival of any potential archaeological deposits. The bore hole survey, whilst difficult to interpret archaeologically, indicates disturbance (outside of the footprint of the current upstanding building) to a significant depth, potentially entirely removing any archaeological deposits.
