Abstract/Summary

In February 2013, an archaeological watching brief was carried out by Cotswold Archaeology during the construction of a solar farm at Shacks Barn Farm, Silverstone, Northamptonshire. The work, which was commissioned by Daylighting Power Limited, followed on from a heritage desk-based assessment prepared by Cotswold Archaeology in 2012. Substantial depths of re-deposited clay and subsoil, derived from the adjacent A43 Towcester to M40 Road Improvement Scheme, were recorded across much of the site, as was predicted by the heritage desk-based assessment. In areas where construction works exposed the geological substrate, no evidence was encountered for any archaeological remains within the impacted areas.
