Abstract/Summary

Pre-Construct Archaeology Ltd (PCA Newark) were appointed by Mr & Mrs D. Collings to undertake an archaeological strip, map and sample followed by an archaeological observation on land adjacent to 16 South Street, Isham, Northamptonshire. The strip, map and sample exposed several features comprising ditches and possible postholes which contained pottery assemblages dating the features to the Late Iron Age/Early Romano-British period. The features also contained quantities of animal bone but no other finds. Due to intercutting nature of the features it was not possible to characterise their possible form and function beyond the limits of the areas of the investigation. No evidence of activity from any successive cultural periods was recorded during the investigations other than recent modern groundworks associated with the development on the property.
