Abstract/Summary

MOLA carried out a programme of historic building recording of stables at Greenfield Lodge, Strixton, Northamptonshire. The site is an agricultural complex comprised of a Grade II Listed mid 19th-century farmhouse with associated earlier, contemporary and later ranges of barns, stables, sheds, and outbuildings. A T-shaped stable range was found to have been constructed in two phases. The eastern range pre-dates the Farmhouse, likely dating to the early 19th century. A second phase, extending west and east, possibly dates to the wider phase of renovation works at the time of the construction of the Farmhouse in 1848. Further smaller rooms and other alterations subsequently took place including the addition of concrete troughs in the 20th century.
