Abstract/Summary
University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) carried out an Archaeological Evaluation by trial trenching on land to the south-west of Brook Farm, Brooks Road, Raunds, Northamptonshire (NGR: TL 00373 73367) on 26-27 September 2017 prior to a proposed residential development. The archaeological fieldwork was intended to provide preliminary indications of the character and extent of any heritage assets in order that the potential impact of the development on such remains may be assessed by the Planning Authority. Two trenches were excavated within the proposed development area. These trenches produced features of archaeological interest, including the possible remains of a wall and two shallow linear features. Pottery found in association with these features indicate a date range between the 12th and 15th century. Features were recorded and the trenches backfilled. A record of the archaeological evaluation will be stored by University of Leicester Archaeological Services under the Event Number ENN108846 until storage at the Northamptonshire repository becomes available.
