Abstract/Summary

This document provides the results of an Observation, Investigation, Recording, Analysis & Publication (Watching Brief) during groundworks for a house extension at 35 Deenethorpe, Northamptonshire in accordance with National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) (Section 12 Enhancing and Conserving the Historic Environment). The results of the Watching Brief show archaeological features were present within the proposed development area however the majority of features dated to the post-medieval period. A linear stone feature which may represent a path relating to the early 19th-century building was found surrounded by mortar and stone rubble containing medieval and early post-medieval pottery. This mortar and stone rubble layer was overlying a post hole which contained medieval pottery dating from 1225-1400. The archaeology was covered by 2 layers of topsoil that were separated by a second layer of stone rubble which was found to contain a mixture of medieval, post medieval and modern artefacts.
