Abstract/Summary

In August 2018 a programme of archaeological monitoring was undertaken on excavations for an external front access stairway to the cellar of 13 Albion Place, Northampton and a soakaway in the front garden. This terraced house is of early 19th-century date and is listed Grade II. All excavations were undertaken by hand. Those for the stairwell revealed only that there had once been a flower bed fronting the house, its eastern extent probably marked by brick or ceramic edging. No buried archaeological features were present and no finds were noted. It is therefore unlikely that the development has had any impact on buried heritage assets.
