Abstract/Summary

This document provides the results of archaeological Observation, Investigation, Recording, Analysis and Publication of ground works for a new dwelling on land adjacent to The Abbotts, Weekley Wood Lane, Weekley. The work was undertaken in accordance with National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) (Section 12 Enhancing and Conserving the Historic Environment). The results of the excavation show archaeological remains were present within the development area comprising large medieval quarry pits which contained heated ironstone and iron slag. These features dated from 1100 to 1640 and represent a continuation of landuse on the site, with a particular concentration of activity between 1100 and 1450. The report will be archived under accession number ENN108980.
