Abstract/Summary
Planning permission has been granted for the restoration of a group of buildings in Warwick Street, Daventry, and the creation of further residences in the rear garden. As part of the planning conditions an appropriate archaeological and architectural analysis and photographic record of the site has been requested under the auspices of the National Planning Policy Framework. The buildings seem to have 18th century origins but were radically altered in the mid-late 19th century and again subsequently. There is nothing in their surviving fabric to indicate that the buildings in their present iteration were ever part of an inn; there seems, instead, to have been four dwellings on the street front, later augmented by the present outbuildings – though these are probably partly on the footprint of earlier structures.
