Abstract/Summary

MOLA carried out a watching brief at 18-20 Chapel Street, Warmington ahead of residential redevelopment. The earliest archaeological features present on the site dated to the medieval period (mid 12th to late 15th centuries) including postholes from a medieval building which existed along the roadside and a collection of gullies and pits which were all located within the southern and eastern half of the site. Other evidence on the site comprised modern activity including a boundary ditch and spreads/foundations related to the creation of the working mens club which existed on the site prior to these works.
