Abstract/Summary

Archaeological work was undertaken prior to groundworks for six eco-lodges and an associated car park in the grounds of Hothorpe Hall, near Theddingworth, Northamptonshire. The work included observation of topsoil and subsoil stripping within the footprint of three of the eco-lodges and the car park. Investigation revealed the remains of the former ice-house, located partly within the new car park area, as well as an undated wall foundation towards the northern edge of the site. The ice-house is likely to date from the 19th century. No archaeological features were seen across the rest of the watched areas. The archive has been allocated a Site Code, ULAS_14265, but will be held by ULAS until such time as suitable archive facilities within Northamptonshire are available.
