Abstract/Summary

Northamptonshire Archaeology carried out a building recording survey, along with desk-based assessment of the London Road Congregational Church Sunday School, Kettering. This was prior to its proposed demolition and redevelopment of the site for dwellings and off-road parking. The building dates to the construction of the purpose built extension to the Congregational Church along with the Institute in 1909, which comprised a main hall with nine ancillary rooms either side. Subsequent alterations, particularly to the rooms to the north of the building, were noted. This information along with that from the documentary sources has been used to produce an understanding of the use of the building and the congregation that occupied it.
