Abstract/Summary

This Grade II listed former farmyard was built as an early example of the ‘model-farm’ principle, and one of a number attributable to local architect and land-agent John Gardner in the period 1836-9. Most of the farm buildings were converted to domestic accommodation in 1995-6 and there remains almost nothing by way of physical evidence of their former use, but their overall plan-form. Their heritage significance is now open to question.
