Abstract/Summary

Magnitude Surveys was commissioned to assess the subsurface archaeological potential of a c8ha area of land over a c30m wide corridor along Phase 2 of the Harpole to Weedon pipeline. A fluxgate gradiometer survey was successfully completed across the site. The geophysical survey has primarily detected anomalies relating to historic agricultural activity, characterised by ridge and furrow cultivation. Possible archaeological activity has been identified in the form of possible partial enclosures and linear ditches. Further anomalies have been identified which are of undetermined origin. Modern ploughing and drainage activity have been detectable in the eastern areas.
