Monument record 886/3 - Possible prehistoric or Roman enclosures, west of Broamenthill Spinney

Geophysical survey of the proposed route of a water pipeline identified a series of linear and curvilinear anomalies and possible partial enclosures. Subsequent trial trench excavation did not identify the enclosure ditches.

{1} Geophysical survey was undertaken in 2020 along the route of a proposed water pipeline. A number of linear anomalies and possible partial enclosures were identified in Area 7. The orientation of the anomalies was different to present and historic agricultural features suggesting an archaeological origin, however, given the narrow area of the survey more detailed interpretation was not possible.

{2} Subsequent trial trench excavation did not identify any of the possible enclosures identified during the geophysical survey. A single, small, undated ditch was found.
