Abstract/Summary

The work has demonstrated Romano-British activity on the site in the form of linear boundary features dating to the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. The presence of well-preserved pottery and animal bone suggests the former presence of a settlement on the site which is highly likely to extend to the north. Some of the undated features may be associated with former post-medieval orchards depicted on historic Ordnance Survey mapping. While some Romano-British activity is recorded within the historic core of Collingtree these excavations represent the first recorded settlement evidence.
