Abstract/Summary

A series of five archaeological trial pits were excavated along the line of proposed works for a new footpath and drainage within the graveyard of St Peter’s Church, Northampton. The aim of the trial pits was to determine the nature, extent, date, significance and state of preservation of any archaeological deposits within the areas where the proposed ground-works are to take place so that the potential impact upon them from the proposed development works can be understood and mitigated. The archaeological investigations were carried out between 28th June and 2nd August 2021 by JB Archaeology on behalf of the Churches Conservation Trust.
