Abstract/Summary

In June and July 2019 KDK Archaeology Ltd undertook an Archaeological Observation and Recording of Land to the rear of 14 Richmond Road, Towcester, Northamptonshire as a condition of planning permission for the development of the site. The work comprised the excavation of foundation trenches and interior ground reduction for five new buildings. The plot at the far northeast of the site contained stone surfaces complete with pottery and a large assemblage of samian ware dating to 1st and 2nd centuries. There was also a large assemblage of animal bone with evidence of butchery, as well as a small knife found wedged inside a bovine humerus.
