Abstract/Summary
MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) was commissioned by RPS Ltd to conduct an archaeological geophysical survey on c12ha of land south of Desborough, Northamptonshire. The survey has detected a probable enclosure and former field boundaries, as well as a smaller possible enclosure and disparate short lengths of ditch and pits. Further responses show ridge and furrow across much of the centre and east of the survey area, while two backfilled areas include a former sewage outlet and a second unknown pit of some form. The survey has also detected the course of several pipes or cable trenches, and the location of former goalpost sockets in the eastern playing fields.
