Abstract/Summary

this report describes the results of an archaeological observation carried out on land at barns, Cotterstock Road, Glapthorn by Pre-construct Archaeology. This observation took place intermittently between the 22nd January and 16th April 2018 and the archaeological work was commissioned by Mr Ian Wilkinson. The aim of the work was to identify, investigate and record any archaeological remains within the development area. Two possible medieval ditches were identified during the excavation of the barn floor surface as well as a wall and associated deposit also dating to the late post-medieval period. Several occupation layers and a series of postholes dating to the late post-medieval or modern periods were also identified; thses were associated with the agricultural usage of the site during these periods, or with recent development.
