Abstract/Summary
A programme of Level 2 targeted historic building recording was undertaken during alterations to the Grade II Listed Building on behalf of Dr Andrew Kunze. The Old Social, number 104, is an early 18th century stone-built house either built by the Dukes of Grafton as part of their substantial land and property holdings in the village, or acquired by them shortly after it was built, no later than 1725. A previous Heritage Asset Survey (Prentice 2019) detailed the building’s origins and development. This report describes the survey works carried out whilst the building was developed. A probable late 18th/19th century bread oven within an earlier inglenook are described.
