Abstract/Summary

A geophysical survey, comprising of a cart-based, detailed magnetometer survey with targeted, detailed earth resistance survey was undertaken within and around a known Romano-British villa complex, a Scheduled Monument (NHLE 1003898). The purpose was to collect data to inform a Heritage Management Strategy and Plan for the remains of Little Weldon Roman Villa. The magnetometer survey has revealed magnetic anomalies relating to agricultural activity and magnetic disturbance. The magnetic results have also identified a possible barrow within the southwest corner of the site. Both techniques were able to identify the villa complex, with the earth resistance data, providing high resolution and definition to the main villa structure.
