Abstract/Summary

MOLA Northampton was commissioned by Statera Energy Limited, to undertake an archaeological excavation at land north of Station Road, Grendon in Northamptonshire. The mitigation revealed that the main period of site occupation was limited to the 12th and later 13th/14th century. It was concentrated approximately 70m from the northern edge of an area defined by the HER as a Deserted Medieval Settlement (DMS). Within the excavation area there was evidence of a boundary ditch, that was truncated by a series of parallel ditches in the western part. To the east the area was characterised by a series of pits, a small sub-rectangular structure and remnants of a ridge and furrow cultivation system.
