Abstract/Summary

MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) conducted an archaeological desk-based heritage assessment of land at Stoneway, Hartwell, Northamptonshire. A walkover survey of the site was undertaken to examine the current character of the site and to identify visible historic features and factors that could affect the survival of potential archaeological remains. A visit was also made to Northamptonshire Archives. Northamptonshire HER was consulted for an updated search of sites and monuments within 500m of the site boundary. All available relevant sources, including LiDAR data, aerial photographs, historic maps, online sources, grey literature and journals were collated in order to provide as accurately as possible, a realistic assessment of the significance of the archaeological remains and likelihood of their survival on the site.
