Abstract/Summary

This Written Scheme of Investigation (WSI) has been prepared by MOLA Northampton for Wayleaves Specialists on behalf of Western Power Distributions (WPD). It sets out a programme of works for archaeological watching brief in advance of a cable route to be laid at Cottesbrooke Hall, Northamptonshire (NGR SP7088574601) (Fig 1). This work will be undertaken in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework (MCHLG 2019). The site lies within the Registered Gardens (DNN6552) of Cottesbrooke Hall with the proposed route starting to the south west of the hall. It then extends south-east for c200m, following the path, before turning to the south-west for c800m into Cottesbrooke Grange. It is envisaged that the archaeological works will comprise the monitoring of the launch pits placed with the cable route.
