Abstract/Summary
In February 2021 KDK Archaeology Ltd carried out Historic Building Recording of the former Conservative Club at 152-154 Watling Street, Towcester, Northamptonshire in order to fulfil Conditions 6 & 20 of planning permission for the conversion of buildings on the site. The former Conservative Club is a collection of four buildings that represent a sequence of construction stretching back to the late 18th century. The oldest of these is a former Georgian residence that fronts onto Watling Street and dates to 1779, its neighbour to the south was constructed approximately a century later and a third building of a similar age runs perpendicular to the east, with a fourth modern addition forming a small courtyard to the rear. These four individual buildings have been altered and function as one continuous space on the interior.
