Author/Originator
Date/Year 2024

Abstract/Summary

A gradiometer survey was conducted over land off Raunds Road, some 0.25km south of the centre of Ringstead, Northamptonshire. The project was commissioned by Armour Heritage with the aim of establishing the presence, or otherwise, and nature of detectable archaeological features on the site ahead of proposed development. The site is located on a moderate north facing slope on the southern edge of Ringstead, some 12.5km ESE of the centre of Kettering. The survey area measures approximately 1.61ha and of this a total of 0.57ha has been covered by geophysical survey. Two fragmentary field systems have been detected along with some scattered pit-like responses of low archaeological potential. Other features detected include agricultural features and at least one modern service. The survey was undertaken by the Lefort Geophysics survey team on the 29th of March 2024.
