Date/Year | 2021 |
Abstract/Summary
A programme of historic building recording was required prior to the partial demolition of a barn as part of consolidation of an overflow car park into a permanent parking area on land off Churchill Way, Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire. Three sides of the barn and the roof will be demolished, the remaining side acting as a boundary wall. The building was recorded following a Heritage Impact Assessment of the proposed alterations and it was deemed that due to the local and regional importance of such agricultural buildings, a permanent record of the structures should be made. The barn is the only surviving remnant of a series of structures that have occupied the site which can be seen on historic mapping dating from 1886 until the middle of the 20th century. The other structures appear to have been demolished around the same time as the construction of Churchill Way which commenced in 1965. The structure, ground plan, external elevations and internal details were recorded in writing, graphically and photographically.
