Abstract/Summary

MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) was commissioned by Taylor Wimpey East Midlands to carry out an archaeological evaluation on land at Niort Way, Wellingborough, Northampton, comprising thirty-nine trenches. The results corroborated the geophysical interpretations of post medieval ridge and furrow and post-medieval/early modern quarrying. In addition modern features were identified, this included: a large “L-shaped” pit backfilled with modern material including barbed wire and modern nails and a small field boundary ditch containing a modern shotgun cartridge, in the south of the development.
