Title | Care Home and Housing, Middlemore Farm, Daventry: Archaeological Evaluation |
Author/Originator | Adam Griffiths |
Date/Year | 2019 |
Abstract/Summary
CFA Archaeology Ltd carried out a trial trench evaluation on land at Middlemore Farm, Daventry, for a proposed development of a 'mixed tenure Continuing Care RetirementCommunity' (CCRC). The evaluation uncovered a ditched enclosure with a former hedge line on the outside. The enclosure is rectangular and is located at the NE edge of Site with a large, shallow Pit at its entrance. The pottery recovered is Iron Age. All other trenches contained no archaeology. Of the 14 trenches, one could not be excavated (trench 14) due to positioning of large hedges and a fence.
