Title REAR OF 31 MAIN STREET, WOODNEWTON, NORTH NORTHAMPTONSHIRE: HISTORIC BUILDING RECORDING LEVEL 2 AND MONITORING
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2024

Abstract/Summary

A Level 2 Historic Building Recording and Archaeological Monitoring was conducted by Independent Archaeology Consultants rear of 31 Main Street, Woodnewton, North Northamptonshire between June and August 2024. The building recording revealed much information about the former cottage, even though many alterations had occurred in the building over the last 200 years. The walls of the original core building had largely remained intact, and the structure contained a number of well preserved architectural features, such as fire places and what appeared to be original wooden floor beams. A number of secondary extensions were recorded on the north and south sides of the core building. The archaeological monitoring of groundworks inside and outside the structure revealed nothing of archaeological interest.
