Abstract/Summary

An Archaeological strip map and sample excavation was conducted at Buckton Fields, Boughton, Northampton. The work was carried out in anticipation of the construction of a primary school by L - P : Archaeology from December 2020 to January 2021.This site forms part of the larger 'Buckton Fields' residential development area; much of which has already been built upon at this stage. A schedule of archaeological resource management forms the overarching strategy for the development as a whole; this strategy is cyclical whereby prior reporting informs the aims for the next phases of investigation. Earlier investigations highlighted remains pertaining to a sizeable Romano-British and Prehistoric settlement. As such research aims have coalesced around the Romano-British habitation. The findings of this most recent excavation include a Bronze Age placed deposit along with features pertaining to Prehistoric field boundaries/agricultural activity. Some residual Roman-British pottery was also observed.
