Abstract/Summary

Proposals have been made to extend the Chapel at Hothorpe Hall, presently a hotel and wedding venue on the northern edge of Northamptonshire. The Hall was built around 1800 and remodelled in the 1880's; the private Chapel was added in 1892. The site became a school in the Second World War and then a religious conference centre before becoming a hotel and conference centre at the end of the 20th century- being radically extended as a result. The buildings are not listed but would be considered to be a non-designated heritage asset. Consequently, this consultancy was commissioned to assist in the development of the scheme and to prepare a heritage impact assessment (HIA) of the proposals following th guidelines of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). Following on from that report the LPA conditioned a Level 3 (Historic England) survey of the chapel.
