Abstract/Summary
An analysis of the buildings on the estate at Kelmarsh is fraught with problems.Firstly there are very few buildings within the farm complexes that have date stones. And secondly, there is unfortunately almost a total lack of documentarysources prior to the 20th century. This means that by and large the buildings themselves have to be used to formulate the historical progression, and, by their very nature, farm buildings and cottages are vernacular in nature, and tend to get patched up, altered and amended to suit changing uses, different tenants &c. This study, therefore, is offered as an outline study and a basis on which hopefully, future research and investigations can be built.
