Abstract/Summary
Magnitude Surveys was commissioned to assess the subsurface archaeological potential of a c. 44 ha area of land near Syresham, West Northamptonshire. A fluxgate gradiometer survey was successfully conducted across the survey area. The geophysical survey has identified multiple anomalies of probable and possible archaeological origin, relating to a possible Banjo enclosure, and other possibleenclosures and ditches of uncertain date. Anomalies of an agricultural origin have been identified across the site in the form of former mapped field boundaries, ridge and furrow cultivation, modern ploughing regimes and drainage features, along with anomalies of undetermined origin. Natural variations resulting from geological processes have also been detected. Modern magnetic disturbance is localised and mainly limited to field edges, but could obscure weaker anomalies should they be present.
