Abstract/Summary

CFA Archaeology Ltd carried out an archaeological watching brief for Willmott Partnership Homes Ltd on a convenience store development at St Peter’s House, Castle Street, Northampton (centred on SP 74986 60650). St Peter’s House is located on an area thought to possibly contain the medieval Blackfriars Dominican Friary. Trenches for services and the footprint of the new building were monitored and revealed layers of 19th and 20th century made ground and concrete covering a disused well of 19th century date. No other archaeological features were found.
