Abstract/Summary

An archaeological watching brief was carried out by Northamptonshire Archaeology as the final stage of archaeological recording during proposed development at West Park Farm, Whittlebury. The watchiing brief involved six site visits between May and June 1998, to both the footprint of the hotel and the construction of the access road. No evidence of any archaeological remains was found, confirming the results of the earlier geophysical survey. While it is possible that the shallow stripping of the car park may mean that the cropmarks survive in situ, the results from elsewhere suggest that all remains of the settlement were destroyed during the construction of the golf course.
