Abstract/Summary

An archaeological evaluation comprising desktop assessment, earthworks survey and sample excavation was carried out on land to the rear of nos 47-55 Church Street, Helmdon, Northamptonshire. The study shows that the plot of land has a closely traceable but unexceptional descent from the medieval period. Sample excavation has confirmed the absence of significant settlement evidence, although a series of possible boundary ditches, probably of medieval date, and the remains of two walls were revealed in the southern part of the site.
