Title Archaeological evaluation of the former Travis Perkins site, St James' End, Northampton
Author/Originator
Date/Year 1996

Abstract/Summary

Desk-based assessment and trial excavation were undertaken. The trial excavation confirmed the presence of medieval tenements and former river courses crossing the site. Two phases of building were revealed dating between the mid-13th to 17th centuries. There was no evidence of subsequent occupation until the mid-19th century. One of the former river courses was revealed and was shown to have been preceded by a wider channel which silted up in the medieval period.
