Abstract/Summary

Desk-based assessment indicated the post-medieval layout of land at the east end of Hemington village. Some parts were subsequently built over by a succession of buildings from c.1821. Archaeological trial excavation recorded two medieval ditches, a pit, and a truncated linear feature dated between c.1150 and 1250. Some were covered by a 13th century soil. All lay in the eastern half of the site. In the western half of the application site early features were absent or had been removed by post-medieval and modern buildings.
