Description

Archaeological trial excavation was carried out in August 2000 on land within the grounds of The Hall, to inform redevelopment proposals. Three trenches totalling up to 30m long were excavated within the swimming pool enclosure and three more, up to 40m long, were excavated at the site adjacent to the coach house. These were excavated initially by machine using a 1.5m wide toothless bucket. Medieval quarrying and possible pre-Hall activity was recorded.
