Description

{2} Three Guillotine lock gates on the River Nene at Upper Wellingborough, Lower Wellingborough and Higham Ferrers were recorded in detail prior to demolition. The gates are being replaced with more traditional mitre pointing doors on health and safety grounds. One representative lock (Upper Wellingborough) was selected for detailed recording as it was the most accessible, although all three were subject to preliminary recording in October 2001. The lock at Upper Wellingborough was recorded to RCHME Level II standard.
