{1} Part of a larger multi-disciplinary project. 18 shovel test pits sunk in and around Whittlebury in July and August 2001. The most likely focus of early, pre-conquest, settlement appeared to be close to the church. This seemed to lie within an oval enclosure which may represent a burh
