Description
{1} Site code: AS1323. In July 2010 Archaeological Solutions conducted an archaeological evaluation on land at Redruth Nursing Home, Weedon Road, Upton, Northamptonshire (NGR SP 7170 6030). The evaluation was undertaken in compliance with an archaeological condition attached to planning permission to redevelop the site. Modern landscaping features were revealed in Trenches 1 and 2, comprising made ground (Tr.1 L1027), the remnants of paths (Tr.1 L1028 and L1029), a ?flower bed (Tr.1 L1030) and ?terracing (Tr.2 F1031). Quarry pits were recorded in Trenches 3 and 4. Two (F1003 Tr. 3 and Tr.4 F1016) contained 18th century pottery. Quarry Pit F1019 contained two sherds of medieval pottery (12th - 14th century). The sherds are of insufficient quantity to date the feature and may be residual (comparable to the residual sherds from F1003 and F1016). An undated gully, F1024, was recorded in Trench 4.
