Full Description

{1} Disused pit shown on First Edition Ordnance Survey map

{2} Active gravel pit shown on Second Edition Ordnance Survey map immediately to the east of the first.

{3} Quarry pits were identified during the evalaution. Sherds of pottery retrieved from the backfill dated up to the 18th century. These pits are not shown on Ordnance Survey mapping and may therefore predate the ones depicted on the First and Second Editions. The gravel pits were gone by 1925. An undated gully aligned north to south at the western edge of the quarry pits may also relate to this phase.
