Description

{1} Archaeological geophysical survey of c106ha of land as part of planning proposals for a solar farm [WND/2022/0410] identified anomalies indicative of probable and possible archaeological activity. This activity is primarily concentrated in the centre of the survey area following a north to south and east to west orientation along a high rising plateau. These include anomalies suggestive of multiphase settlement structures such as ring ditches, rectilinear enclosures, former land divisions, trackways and bridleways. Further anomalies suggest that fragmentary remains of archaeological features extend more widely across the survey area. Possible postholes, pits and/or quarrying have also been identified.
