Description
The four mitigation areas (Area 1–4) as part of the Roade Bypass Scheme (RBS) revealed remains associated with Iron Age occupation comprising cremations, trackways, enclosure ditches, pits, postholes, post-structures and industrial features. Assessment of the pottery assemblage indicates the earliest occupation dated to the early Iron Age period, with evidence for continuity through the middle Iron Age and into the late Iron Age, with no evidence for activity after the 1st/2nd centuries AD. This phasing will be further investigated during the full analysis stage to help characterise the nature of the activity.
