Description
{1} The Exeter Road development scheme was watched but yielded no certain pre-19th century features or finds. The majority of the site had been stripped of buildings and shallow foundations had been put down over much of the area, some service trenches also. Except for the apex between the Kettering Road and Wellingborough Roads the whole area showed nothing but 19th-century gardens, cellaring etc. On the Wellingborough Road frontage, there were ironstone wall foundations evident and associated with a thick blue clay floor. No sign of medieval suburban development.
