Description

The magnetometer survey has recorded numerous magnetic responses that have been interpreted as being of archaeological interest. A series of rectilinear enclosures with internal subdivisions, ring ditches, and pits associated with a late prehistoric site plus two possible Bronze Age barrows are visible in the magnetic data. The responses correspond with an extensive group of cropmarks that are recorded in the HER. A number of amorphous responses of uncertain origin have also been detected which could be due to occupation debris or be associated with industrial activity. However, localised geological or modern origins are also possible. Ridge and furrow ploughing has been detected in the survey along with an area of magnetic disturbance which is likely to be due to modern landscaping. [OASIS Online form]
