Description

Topsoil clearance prior to ironstone quarrying exposed a scatter of Iron Age features extending over an area some 21/2 acres in extent. The features appear to be of two periods, with a pair of parallel ditches dating to the 3rd or perhaps 4th century BC, and a scatter of pits and ditches of the late pre-Belgic period, widely dispersed over the whole area.
